When I was a young girl, no one talked about sex. I felt the power at an early age and having had no education on this desire that I felt inside of me- simple advise like "if you feel that way, then what you can do it touch your magic button, I would have loved if someone at my young age called it a "magic button" and that this "desire" was this healthy power your body has and given me some instruction on masterbation well then... I probably wouldn't be telling you all this. As a result of not understanding this desire and using it inappropriate to my age, I turned to shame. I knew somewhere deep in my bones that this was wrong, but the desire was so strong and it felt so good. Retrieving that power has been my life's journey, but I wasn't always aware of this...until I met my friend Fern who had a backseat filled with vibrators.
She is a consultant for Pure Romance (you know those parties where women get together, laugh and buy sex toys? ) and had been doing it for 14 years and was very successful. I was immediately intrigued as I had been to a Pure Romance party a few years ago, loved it, and did have the thought, "That would be really fun to do" I went with Fern to a Pure romance party. Loved it. I had been doing some stand up comedy and thought I could really make a stage of it, and with my newfound skill of ventriloquism, I could make my dream of owning a Vagina Puppet come true. (Yep, it's true! Ever since I saw the Vagina Monologues, I wanted a Vagina Puppet (which I have since learned is actually called a Vulva. #howcomenooneevertaughtmethat!!!). What I didn't dream is that I could use my newfound skill as a ventriloquist so that only her lips moved! Pun Intended!!
And in no time I am a pure romance consultant with a talking vulva!
I had 2 live parties with 6 on the books and then ENTER: The Pandemic. No live parties. Shelter at home. Lots of time to ponder. I began to get really interested in sex. (Good timing since I had a stock of vibrators in my closet!) I became fascinated by the mere fact that a business like this exists for women with so many different products designed around her sexual well being. Then I started reading Vagina The Biography and learned about the Pelvic Nerve and how important it is for a woman to 'be in the mood' and for her to 'speak up' and 'know how her body works' and that there was such a thing as "responsive desire' meaning you may not have that heart beating I want to get in your pants desire but when you are touched you respond." How it possible that I knew nothing of this. Why is no one talking about this. Where is today's Dr. Ruth?
I'm not saying that's me. I'm just a middle aged woman selling vibrators as a side gig. NOTE: I'm not withering, frail middle age more like a I've-never-felt-better in my life giggle sage...

I have suddenly at 56 become voraciously interested in sex.
I'm not having sex. I'm just reading a lot about it and selling vibrators to women who are having sex.
